Our kids’ future is our state’s most valuable resource and it’s important that we continue to support our local schools. We worked to provide Minnesota schools with a 2% funding increase for the next two years. Currently, our schools are funded 24% below the levels they were in 2003. Local schools will receive an additional $352 per student with the increases we passed this year.
Since the DFL passed a responsibly balanced budget in 2013-14, Minnesota’s economy continues to enjoy business expansion that resulted in more than 80,000 new jobs in the last year.
Building on investments from 2013-2014, we put $138 million in nursing home funding to improve care for seniors and better compensate caregivers for our loved ones.
Responded to deficiencies in our state’s child protection laws with a bipartisan reform that strengthens our state’s ability to combat child abuse.
